Are
you confused about all the options for higher education? Did
you know that the average high school guidance counselor has a caseload of 287
students? And that, on average, school counselors spend only 25% of their time
offering college admissions counseling? Even if your counselor has just 150 students,
that is only 1.8 hours per student per year on college advising. While counselors
work hard to make the best of that situation, it is simply not enough time to
help meet each student's needs. Now
do you wish you had an admissions expert in the family? You
may want to consider Mary Spiegel, of Spiegel Educational Consulting.
What is an independent educational consultant?
Independent educational consultants are skilled professionals who provide counseling
to help student and family choose a college, university or other program that
is a good personal match: one that will foster this particular student's academic
and social growth. Educational consultants can provide a student and family with
individual attention, first hand knowledge of hundreds of educational opportunities,
and the time to explore all of the options. We work one-on-one with students and
parents to develop a thorough, carefully researched and appropriate college search,
and guide the student through every step of the process. For
more information about Independent Educational consultants, go to the Independent
Educational Consulting Association (IECA) at http://www.educationalconsulting.org.
Background Mary
Spiegel, owner of Spiegel Educational Consulting, has nearly two decades of
experience in higher education. Mary is a Certified Educational Planner (CEP),
a mark of distinction reflecting the highest level of professional achievement.
She is a full member of the Independent Educational Consulting Association (IECA)
and the National Association of College admission Counseling (NACAC). Mary is
a frequent speaker at local organizations and regional corporations on the topic
of college admissions. She is also an active member of the local community, serving
on the Town of Trumbull's Business / Education Initiative, the Trumbull Public
Library Foundation, and the Trumbull High School PTSA Academic Excellence Committee. Mary
began her career in admissions as Director of Admissions at Fairfield University.
It was during her tenure as director that Mary realized how unprepared many students
were for the entire college search and admissions process. Mary's
valuable experience as a director of admissions, and her years of working in the
college environment, led her to the world of independent educational consulting.
Today she maintains a thriving private practice, guiding a select number of students
through their high schools years to successful admission and enrollment in college.
